Personal Training Program



The POTENTRx™ Personal Training Program is a comprehensive 300 hour, 5 month program designed to educate those interested in sitting for the following nationally recognized personal training certification exams:
- American College of Sports Medicine: ACSM: C-PT and HFI (with AA)
- National Strength and Conditioning Association: NSCA: C-PT
- American Council on Exercise: ACE: ACE Certified Personal Trainer
The program is designed to provide two key foundational elements in becoming a qualified and respected personal trainer:
1. Academic preparation which includes a total of 128 hours of education in the following:
- Anatomy and Physiology/Biomechanics
- Exercise Physiology/Sport and Exercise Nutrition
- Exercise Testing and Prescription/Working with Special Populations
- Motivation/Sport and Exercise Psychology/Business of Personal Training
2. Practical preparation which includes a total of 172 hours of intensive one on one personal training and small group exercise leadership and participation which includes the following information:
- Proper Exercise Technique
- Corrective Exercises
- Group Exercise Leadership
- Hands on Personal Training
**Classes are conducted on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm (Months 1-4) and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm plus one Sunday per month from 10am to 4pm (Months 1-5).

Financing
Financing is currently available on a monthly basis and includes textbooks and gym membership for the duration of the program.
Faculty
Our faculty includes lifelong educators who are experts in the health and fitness industry and the respective academic components of study.
Lab Practical Overview
All lab practical hours will be carried out at the Downtown YMCA. All students will receive memberships to the Downtown YMCA to practice the skills they learn in class and for their own personal enjoyment.
