Team Stranamanti

Cycling Team

Team Bio

Stranamanti Cycling was built on the idea that racing is fun, winning is more fun and racing as a team maximizes both of the former. Riding in this style blurrs the lines between work and play, between learning and laughing. In competitive environments it is easy to latch onto prestige or ego, to separate individuals into a heirarchical order. Stranamanti rejects that approach. For Stranamanti, each race is an opportunity to go harder, to race smarter and to be bolder.

As Stranamanti embraces these opportunities, the sport requires less "work" as their actions are expressions of the heart's desire. Yes, Stranamanti win races, but winning is not the goal, only part of the process through which they enjoy - the sport of cycling.

Interview with Stranamanti

What is the best things about your team?

We race with heart, we race with smarts. None of us are trying to make a living out of riding our bikes. We are just doing what we love.

How long have you been racing together?

The team was started by Michael Pruitt 7 or 8 years ago. We have gone through different sponsors and different team makeup. Every year it is a little different.

What advice would you give future cyclists?

Love your bike. The more you love it, the faster you go.

What is your most memorable experience, as a team?

Taking first and second in the state road race was pretty sweet. We had a man in the long break to start so we could sit in while others chased. When the pack started to close on the break and attacks began to launch we worked well covering the moves. Jamie Stangeland attacked with 20 miles to go and the tired pack just watched him roll away. After a few minutes they realized what had happened and began chasing... to no avail. As Jamie soloed for the win the rest of us led out Ian Mensher for a crushing pack sprint to take second just behind.

What is the hardest thing about cycling?

Getting enough sleep, keeping a clean shave on the legs, keeping the bike in working order, stopping yourself from buying newer lighter, more expensive carbon fiber components, explaining to work why you need to take another Friday off to travel to a race, and saying no to your non cycling buddies when they invite you to an all night party.

What is something people don't know about Team Stranamanti?

We party on Monday's, our rest day. We do yoga early evening then move to dinner, drinks and revelry.

What is/are your goal(s) this season?

Our number one goal is to have fun, next is to raise the level of racing in the northwest a notch (or a few). We want to create a racing community that prepares local aspiring riders for the pro fields and gives the pro's a run for their money when the come to town. Long story short: Win as often as possible with as much class as can be.

What Stranamanti says about their team this year

"This year we should be referred to as the Keller Rohrback Cycling Team. But if you say Keller Rohrback fast, it kind of sounds like "Killer Robots," this is also fine."
